River, rolling river, will you be a friend to me
Will you carry all my sorrows and drown them in the sea
When the tears like Rain are falling and they flood my memories
River, rolling river, roll for me

There’s a gentle rain that’s falling, crystal drops upon the leaves
There’s a gentle breeze that’s blowing, it stirs my memories
Days of simple pleasures, dreams that flowed so free
Shared beside the waters, whispered neath the trees

River, rolling river, will you be a friend to me
Will you carry all my sorrows and drown them in the sea
When the tears like Rain are falling and they flood my memories
River, rolling river, roll for me

Now I walk alone in silence where once you strolled beside
I carry only sorrow and dreams you left behind
And tears fall from the heavens, tears fall from my eyes
The sound of rolling waters swallows all my cries

River, rolling river, will you be a friend to me
Will you carry all my sorrows and drown them in the sea
When the tears like Rain are falling and they flood my memories
River, rolling river, roll for me.
