A songbird sings a sunset song
The gnats glow in the rays
The sun feels warm upon my back as I walk away the day

My wife is waiting on the porch
My dog sleeps in the yard
Flowers are rising in their garden spots
And growing old ain’t hard

Thunderheads are growing in the south/southwest
And the wind is picking up
There’ll be rain before nightfall you can bet your life
And I’m looking for my coffee cup

There’s no radio blasting that fuzzy rock
No TV to close my mind
Just her smiling eyes to warm my soul
As I hold her hand in mind

My wife is waiting on the porch
My dog sleeps in the yard
Flowers are rising in their garden spots
And growing old ain’t hard
